Guiding Lights – Archival Pigment Print – 440x620mm – $495
The sight of the iconic Kopu Bridge with a long tail back of traffic and the lights seemingly locked at red is an abiding memory for many of us who regularly travelled to the Coromandel – back in the day!
Now the situation is much improved with the new bridge keeping things moving and traffic lights assuming a very different level of importance in our pandemic world.
Limited Edition Digital Prints on Archival Paper
(Edition Size = 50)
I use digital processes to deconstruct my existing paintings, prints and photographs with a view to reassembly and reinvention. Digital Prints are available in a range of formats and sizes.
Prices start from $250 for the standard size of 520 mm x 420 mm – unframed and matted. Work can also be printed on to aluminium. I introduced this option as aluminium prints are highly sun resistant and therefore extremely suitable for NZ homes.

Stop.
One of a series on the old Kopu Bridge built in 1928 and now closed. It was a single-lane swing bridge spanning the Waihou River, at the Firth of Thames which caused major traffic jams in the summer. The series includes Go, Relax and Choice. Also available in black and white.

BLESS THIS HOUSE
House blessing is a very ancient practice. Like most animals we have always been driven to protect our shelters and maintain a safe place of refuge using a range of techniques to do so – building enclosures and fences, planting rowan trees to placate the spirits as well as scratching inscriptions and prayers. This work is almost an act of propitiation as it tries to highlight some of the ancient words once used to protect our homes.
Pax intrantibus – Peace to those who enter
Salus exeuntibus – Good health to those who depart
Benedictio habitantibus – Blessings on those who abide

Kate Hill
When Kate arrived in New Zealand from London in 1981 she was primarily working with fabric, fibre and stitch. Winning a major award at that time inspired her to embark on a journey of further study through fabric printing to traditional and digital print making. Her current work, which reflects all these influences, has been selected for many significant shows and awards and is available through galleries in the Waikato and the Coromandel.
The experience of living in the Waikato and spending time on the Coromandel Peninsular still informs her work and in particular the half a hectare of gully restoration undertaken in Hamilton. This endeavour, which involved trudging over every square metre , enabled a very intimate relationship with the land to develop, together with an intense awareness of the shapes and forms of the natural environment and its occupants.
